Bruce Lisman

Bruce was born in Burlington’s Old North End, attended Burlington public schools and has been hard at work since he was 15 years old. His mom was a secretary and his dad a school teacher.

After graduating from UVM, he worked as a file clerk, taxi driver and bartender before building a successful 40-year career in financial service. Bruce is an experienced manager of more than 2,300 employees and another 1,000 in support.

Bruce served 6 years in the Army Reserves. He is a supporter and board member of a range of organizations representing youth development, prevention of child abuse, education, the environment, the arts, historical preservation, and animal welfare.

He was the lead supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Burlington’s ‘Early Promise Program’, which provides social and academic support, culminating in admission to a Vermont state college.
He founded the policy and advocacy organization, Campaign for Vermont, in 2011 – promoting common sense public policy ideas, accountability and transparency in government, and the enactment of ethics standards.

Bruce announced his candidacy for Governor last September.
